Hans Vercauter is a Belgian film and commercial director celebrated for his eclectic storytelling, surreal touches, and his ability for turning the everyday into something warm and cinematic.
His work balances polished visuals with narratives that often veer into the unexpected — in all the right ways.
In the commercial world, Hans has directed international campaigns for high-profile clients including Hyundai, Lavazza, Facebook, Mastercard, Proximus, Samsonite, Orange and many more...
Before establishing himself as an independent director, he was part of the Helvetica directing duo.
His commercial work was created since then under the name Camera Says No.
He kicked off his career in the world of short films, quickly picking up awards and attention. FLAT41 earned the Jury Prize at the Leuven Kort Festival, while WOLF ’S MILK took home the Jury Prize at the World Film Festival in Montreal (no wolves or dairy harmed). More recently, he directed the television series Dood Spoor (Dead End) alongside Malin-Sarah Gozin, creator of Apple TV’s hit-series Bad Sisters.
Coming from an editing background he knows how to make every frame count!
Hans’s background in fiction continues to shape his commercial work, infusing it with emotional depth and a keen eye for performance — not to mention the occasional on-set animal wrangling.
He is available for projects worldwide and is rarely far from a camera.
As a passionate photographer, Hans often experiments with analog film and his trusted 4x5 camera.
When he's not behind the lens, you’ll likely find him on his race bike, around horses, or perfecting his espresso affogato game — because creativity needs caffeine and sweets.
Hans lives in Antwerp with his family.
